↟ Inspired by Nature ↟

Designed for the Long Haul

At Sutsu, our name is deeply rooted in cultural significance, reflecting our commitment to sustainability, community and the seamless transition between seasons.

The term 'sutsu' (節), akin to 'setsu' in modern Japanese, signifies a pivotal transition between two seasons, symbolising change and continuity. This concept aligns with our belief in the cyclical nature of life and fashion, emphasising timeless designs that adapt with the seasons. The name resonated with our positive ecological values and our respect for the myriad adventures offered by the natural world.

Founded in 2004, Sutsu was built on a simple principle: to create a brand that blends timeless style with conscious sustainability.

A Meaningful Impact

From its very first design, the brand has aimed to create lasting change, offering products that are mindful of the environment, celebrate cultural heritage and empower individuals to make conscious choices.

Sutsu is more than just a brand — it’s a movement that believes fashion can be a force for good, shaping a better future for both people and the planet.

Our Accountability

We are accountable for our actions as humans, and at Sutsu we hope for the waves, mountains and parks that we are all drawn to, to look and feel the same in 20 years. Although this is looking increasingly unlikely we advocate the concept of slow fashion. That’s why we aim to make clothes that are not only design-driven, but that use sustainable or organic materials and that look just as good in 10 years as they do the day you first wear them. While this is not always achievable, every garment will consistently be made within Fairtrade, Organic & ethical regulations.

Transparency Through & Through

Our instinct has been to walk a different path; one that is firmly rooted in our commitment to bringing you ethically made and responsibly sourced clothing. It’s an evolving process but one that is anchored in our core values with an aim to be fully transparent.

One of our fundamental policies is that we do not hold stock. It’s a simple three-step journey: place your order, we get to work on making your order, and you receive your product(s) roughly 3-5 days later fresh off the press.

From being honest about how our clothes are made, to how much they cost to make, we tell it like it is. We figure as long as we produce organic streetwear clothes that you love - which allows us to help fund environmental projects that we care about - then there’s nothing to hide.

Our Responsibility

At Sutsu, we believe in thinking beyond ourselves and using our platform as a force for good is part of our responsibility. That means building meaningful partnerships with charities, staying true to our conservation.

We proudly support impactful charities like Magic Breakfast, helping to provide nutritious meals to children across the UK, and Rewilding Britain, working to restore nature and biodiversity on a national scale. Every purchase helps us contribute to causes that matter. With every product, we’re not just creating style, we're creating positive impact. Furthermore, we have partnered with Ecologi as part of our aim to be environmentally neutral - for every Sutsu garment sold, two trees are planted on our behalf.

Sutsu's is independently accredited by Ethy, Renoon, Climate Neutral and many more.

A Force for Change
